I just finished watching a really sweet BL drama, Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?!

The MC, Adachi (seated on the right), is a shy ball of anxiety. On the left is Kurosawa, suave, handsome, basically an angel, and absolutely besotted with Adachi. They work at the same company, but Adachi has zero idea that someone like Kurosawa could actually like him. But then Adachi turns 30, and because he is still a virgin, he acquires the magic to suddenly start hearing people's thoughts when he touches them. Inevitably, he touches Kurosawa and learns about his feelings for him.

Admittedly, the premise is a bit ridiculous, but it leads to a lot of funny moments and never goes in a dark or icky direction, mostly because Adachi is a very sweet and unassuming person. Instead, his power helps him come out of his shell and connect with people.

It reminded me of HIStory:Trapped in that it is packed with a ton of tropes but in a good way. The leads also have good chemistry, and every time Kurosawa gets his heart broken, yours breaks too. But it actually isn't super angsty, and it has a wonderful happy ending. It also avoids all the more unfortunate BL tropes, and Kurosawa and Adachi do things like talk about the importance of communication and their feelings. I think some people don't like the B couple, Tsuge and Minato, but I did--there were a lot of hilarious moments with them, and although the actor who plays Tsuge sometimes was too over the top, overall I liked them. It also had the bonus of a female character who I read as aro/ace, which was awesome.

12 eps--they're all on Crunchyroll, not sure about other sites. But I definitely recommend it!
